Course Topics Include
Fundamentals of Coaching (SBOE Approved)
- Coach Beyond: Coaching Essentials (one-time requirement for first-time coaches)
First Aid for Coaches Programming (SBOE Approved)
- Required every 3 years; includes the 14 topics required by the State Board of Education of Ohio
Concussion in Youth and High School Sports (ODH Approved)
- Required every 3 years
Coach Beyond: Supporting Student-Athlete Mental Health (ODMHAS Approved)
- Required every 3 years
Lindsay’s Law: Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth Athletes (ODH Required)
- Required annually; the SBOE YouTube embedded video that generates a certificate of completion

Once in Athletics Healthspace, click on USCAH’s “State Board of Education of Ohio: Pupil Activity Permit Coursework” to complete all training requirements for first-year coaches. If you need a single training, please click on the specific course on your dashboard to purchase or complete (e.g., mental health, first aid, concussion, Lindsey’s Law, etc.).
