The U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) commends the state of Maryland legislature and Gov. Larry Logan for the adoption of Senate Bill 439, also known as the Jordan McNair Safe and Fair Play Act. In addition to standard NIL legislation, this bill takes an unprecedented stance on health and safety standards for student-athletes at Maryland’s public universities. This prioritization of athletics healthcare delivery is imperative for ensuring the health, safety and wellness of student-athletes, as well as mitigating incalculable risk for athletic departments and universities.
