The National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) has teamed up with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) to provide health and safety education and consultation to support and optimize athlete healthcare. The cornerstone of the partnership will be assisting youth sports organizations, coaches, parents and athletes.

“We are excited to partner with USCAH to promote youth sports safety,” said Wayne B. Moss, Executive Director at NCYS. “This partnership will help us to provide more resources and education to our members and the youth sports community to keep their athletes safe.”

The partnership will target the following areas:

  • Providing resources and education on youth sports safety to youth sports organizations, coaches, parents, and athletes
  • Raising awareness of the importance of youth sports safety
  • Advocating for guidelines, policies and systems that support youth sports safety

The collaboration will make a real difference in the lives of athletes and their families. The partnership will also work to develop and implement a national athlete health and safety campaign.

The U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health believes that creating a culture that prioritizes athlete health and safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in athletics, not just healthcare personnel. Athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and officials should all have at least a baseline understanding of health, safety, and welfare issues that are common in youth sports.

“We are excited to partner with NCYS to collaborate and enhance the health, safety, and well-being of their participants. We look forward to working together to prioritize health and safety,.” said James R. Borchers, M.D. M.P.H., co-founder and president at USCAH.
