COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. and COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced its partnership with U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) for the 2022-23 academic year, the league announced Thursday.
Through the RMAC’s partnership with USCAH, the league will look to bolster its health and safety methods for nearly 6,000 student-athletes across the conference’s 21 NCAA-sponsored sports.
“This agreement represents the role the RMAC office can play in supporting the critical work of our athletic trainers,” Commissioner Chris Graham noted. “ We hope this is just the first step within a multi-faceted approach to address the thinning of the athletic trainer industry. The care of our student-athletes will remain paramount.”
USCAH was founded to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes through independent and unbiased medical expertise for organizations and individuals overseeing the welfare of their school’s competitors. The council routinely collaborates with athletic organizations and institutions to inspire and ensure that athlete health and safety are a priority.
“The U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health is excited to partner with the RMAC in their mission to enhance comprehensive student-athlete health, safety and wellness,” said USCAH CEO and president Dr. James Borchers. “USCAH is committed to collaboration and programming that will transform athletic healthcare and safety for the RMAC, its member institutions and constituents.”
Providing insight at all levels of athletic competition, including youth, high school, collegiate and national governing bodies, USCAH boasts over 300 years of athletic healthcare experience. The group has committed its efforts to providing health and safety consultation in order to mitigate risk among competitors.
