The Summit League has partnered with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) to provide athletic healthcare services to the conference and its member institutions. This includes but is not limited to annual healthcare assessments, utilization of USCAH resources, and consultation and support from USCAH staff.

“The Summit League and our member institutions are proud to partner with United States Council for Athletes Health,” Summit League Commissioner Josh Fenton said. “Dr. James Borchers and the entire USCAH team have quickly proven their value to intercollegiate athletics and this partnership is reflective of our League’s commitment to the health and well-being of our student-athletes.”

USCAH was founded to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes through independent and unbiased medical expertise for organizations and individuals overseeing the welfare of their school’s competitors. The council routinely collaborates with athletic organizations and institutions to inspire and ensure that athlete health and safety are a priority.

As part of the partnership, the Summit League’s athletic trainers and sports medicine professionals will have access to USCAH's membership platform, the Athletics Healthcare Administrators Association (AHAA). The AHAA is a community-based platform strategically designed to provide important resources, educational opportunities, peer and expert insights via live discussions, real-time industry news alerts, and webinars focused on best practices in athletic healthcare delivery. Each Summit League institution will receive unlimited individual memberships to the AHAA.

In coordination with the Summit League’s Health, Safety, and Medical Safeguards Committee, USCAH will also collaborate with institutions for an annual online assessment to evaluate the healthcare delivery at each institution, with a comprehensive assessment conducted by USCAH once every four years. These evaluations are based on best practices and established sports medicine standards and will ensure consistency in the assessment process across the conference.

"USCAH is honored to collaborate with the Summit League and their nine member institutions," Dr. Jim Borchers, USCAH Co-founder and President, said. "We look forward to assisting the conference and its members in their continued commitment to prioritizing student athlete health, safety, and wellbeing."
