May 15, 2023 – USA Hockey has teamed up with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) to provide expert programming centered on health, safety, and performance improvement. The education programming will include:
- Athlete Health, Safety, and Wellness
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Emergency Preparedness
- Mental Health in Sport
- Hockey Specific Common Injuries
The U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health believes that creating a culture that prioritizes athlete health and safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in sport, not just healthcare personnel. Athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and officials should all have at least a baseline understanding of health, safety, and wellbeing issues that are common in sport.
“USCAH is proud to collaborate with USA Hockey to prioritize athlete health, safety, and well-being,” said James Borchers, CEO and president at USCAH. “This collaboration will provide resources and programming for coaches, athletes, and parents that will emphasize the importance of consistency and alignment for critical areas to all USA Hockey constituents. USCAH is excited and honored to collaborate with USA Hockey to ensure the future of athlete health, safety, and well-being.”

About USA Hockey
USA Hockey provides the foundation for the sport of ice hockey in America; helps young people become leaders, even Olympic heroes; and connects the game at every level while promoting a lifelong love of the sport. USA Hockey was founded on Oct. 29, 1937, in New York City. USA Hockey’s primary emphasis is on the support and development of grassroots hockey programs. Its cutting-edge American Development Model, which was launched in January 2009, provides associations nationwide with a blueprint for age-appropriate athlete development. Always a leader in safety, USA Hockey furthered the enhancement of those efforts by advancing the USA Hockey Safe Sport Program in June 2012. Learn more about USA Hockey by visiting www.usahockey.com
